Panel Discussion Part I
Purpose: Bringing Adoption, Foster and Respite care awareness to our local congregations

Panel Discussion Part II
Purpose: To discuss Adoption and Foster Care. To hear from professionals on the pros and cons of adoption as well as those who have adopted children or provided Foster Care for children. The intent is to shed light on the adoption process and encourage adoption into our families

YOUNG ADULT / YOUTH SESSION I -- 9:00 A.M. – 10:15 A.M
YOUNG ADULTS (Ages 19-24) Location: Room 112
Topic: I AM ADOPTED (Theory)
Purpose: To help young adults understand the importance of family—not just blood relatives, but also adoptive and intentional family members.
Theology of inclusion: Nobody left behind
Ephesians 5:1 says, “In love, he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ; Proverbs 3:1-5.

HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 9-12 & Recent Graduates) Location: Room 187
Topic: What is OHANA? Family: The Conversation (Theory)
Purpose: To ensure youth understand the importance of a family group and to stress the multi-generational kinship consisting of all generations and the connection to our predecessors. To show respect for the knowledge of those older than themselves and encourage the well being of those younger, whether they are adopted or blood family members.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (Grades 7 & 8) Location: Room 127 (Choir Room)
Topic: Our Adoptive Culture: The face of 21st Century blended families (Theory)
Purpose: Helping Youth understand the culture of Adoption, Foster Care and blended families. To encourage them to embrace family members and respect the fact that we are adopted into God’s family.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Grades 4-6) Location: Room 182
Topic: OHANA Means Family – Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten. (Theory)
Purpose: Help children understand the meaning and importance of family and why God made families. 2nd Cor. 6:18 – “And I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters tome, says the Lord Almighty.”

KINDERGARTEN THROUGH THIRD GRADE Location: Room 114
Topic: God Made Families (Theory)
Purpose: Help children learn that God loves everyone in our family and that He is our loving Creator. The truth of God’s love will open the children’s hearts to God’s commandments as they grow. 1st Cor. 13:4-7

Purpose: To have young adults discuss their feelings regarding adoption and have someone who is adopted share their experience.
Project: Prepare a Family Tree

HIGH SCHOOL (Grades 9-12 & Recent Graduates) Location: Room 187
Topic: What is OHANA? Family: The Conversation (Practical)
Purpose: To allow youth to openly discuss their family structure and their feelings about family
Project: Prepare an elected Family Tree: Persons in your family that are not blood relatives

MIDDLE SCHOOL (Grades 7& 8) Location: Room 127 (Choir Room)
Topic: Our Adoptive Culture: The Face of 21st Century blended families (Practical)
Purpose: Allow youth to discuss how they feel about Adoption/Foster Care. If they come from a blended family, how do they cope with the environment?
Project: Showing Compassion: Write letters of encouragement to new family members

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Grades 4-6) Location: Room 182
